Privacy policy
Effective date: 2026-10-25
Filed is a Chrome extension that saves the web page you are looking at to your own Google Drive. This policy explains what Filed accesses, how it is used, and how to remove it. Filed is made by Or Mizrahi. Back to the Filed home page or read the terms of service.
Filed’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What Filed accesses
- Google permission: one OAuth scope,
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. It gives Filed access only to files Filed creates and to files or folders you pick in Google's folder picker. Filed has no access to the rest of your Drive, Gmail, contacts or anything else. - Your Google account: your Google account's name, email address, profile photo and Google's account identifier (
permissionId), from Drive'saboutendpoint. Filed keeps the name, email and identifier in the browser to label the connected account and to keep each account's folders separate. The photo is shown in Options and isn't stored. - The page you save: when you save, the content of that tab (its text, its images, or the original file) is read and converted in your browser.
- Folders: the names and IDs of the folders you pick, pin or recently used.
- Settings: default format, file name template, date format, PDF paper size, and whether to show the on-page confirmation.
How it is used
- Only to save the page you chose, in the format you chose, into the Drive folder you chose, and to show your folders and account in the extension. There is no other purpose.
- Pages go from your browser straight to Google Drive. Filed has no server that receives, reads or stores them.
- Network requests: Google's APIs (sign-in, Drive upload, account information and revoking access);
filed.ormiz.dev/picker, to show Google's folder picker; and the websites the page's images or the saved file come from (when saving as the original file, the request carries your cookies for that site, like a normal download; images for a PDF are fetched without cookies). - The folder picker is given a short-lived access token by the extension, inside your browser. The token is kept only in memory and is never stored on a server.
- Hosting: the website and the folder-picker page are hosted by Vercel, which records standard request information (such as IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time) to operate its service. Filed doesn't use that information for tracking or analytics. Your access token is never sent to the website's server: the picker page receives it from the extension inside your browser and keeps it only in memory.
No tracking, analytics or sale
- Filed has no analytics, no error-reporting service, no ads, and no third-party scripts other than Google's own folder picker, which the picker page loads from apis.google.com.
- Filed does not sell or transfer your data to third parties, advertising platforms, data brokers or resellers. It does not use your data for ads, credit-worthiness or lending, no person reads your data, and it is not used to train AI models.
What is kept, and for how long
Filed keeps no user data on any server, so there is nothing for Filed to delete on a server. In your browser:
- Chrome sync storage: your settings and pinned folders. Chrome syncs them across your browsers if Chrome sync is on.
- Local storage: recent folders, and the connected account's name, email and identifier.
- Session storage: while a save is in progress, and after it finishes: the job's details (page address with sign-in tokens removed, title, file name, chosen folder, Drive file ID, upload session) and, for a saved selection, its text so Retry works. Also the one-time codes of the folder picker. A finished save is removed the next time Filed starts once an hour has passed since the save last changed. A picker code expires at most 5 minutes after it was created and is removed then, or earlier when its window closes or the save ends; at the latest it is removed the next time Filed starts after it expires. All of it is always removed when the browser closes or the extension is reloaded.
- Removing Filed from Chrome deletes the data it keeps in that browser.
- Files saved to your Drive belong to you. Filed never deletes them; uninstalling or revoking access doesn't remove them.
Revoking access
Options → Sign out revokes Filed's access with Google and deletes that account's pinned folders (on every Chrome where sync is on), recent folders and account details. If Google can't be reached, the local data is still deleted and Options tells you to remove access from your Google Account.
You can also remove access at any time in your Google Account: open Third-party apps and services, choose Filed, then Remove access.
